I am unbelievably behind on blogging. Being busy is good, right??? So let me start catching up with this beautiful outdoor wedding from a few weeks back.

Knowing Whitney since she was seven years old and seeing her get married was an amazing moment. It was such a joyful coming together of two people that are so in love, and feel like best friends as well, that I cried more then my usual, self-alloted amount.
The wedding was held at the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens, a gorgeous hidden gem for outdoor weddings. I loved the vibrant color palette and the great job Luz Pencyla, the planner, did with the flowers and decor.
When Whitney's mom Maria, my go to hair/make-up artist, did Whitney's makeup, the poor girl couldn't look at her mom without tearing up. Like I said, a very emotional day.

Whitney and Rick wrote notes to each other and sealed them in this box with wine, not to be opened until their first anniversary. Love this idea!

Whitney had both her grandfathers walk her down the isle...

Many moments in the ceremony were surrounded with laughter, mostly Whitney's!

If anyone says it doesn't rain in Southern California to Briana and Mike, they will beg to differ. After multiple rescheduling's, we finally managed to pull off their fun, tender engagement session recently. And although it was chilly and looked like it might rain again, nothing could dim the smile on Mike's face as he held onto Briana. Viewing the love between two people, and being able to capture it for them to see, is the most amazing job anyone could have.

That was Abby, by the way. More of her later, dog lovers...

Briana Says:
Thanks so much Karen - you really put us at ease for the engagement session and we can't wait for our wedding day and to see the pictures you take then!

Meet the awesomeness that is Reiko and Scott.

Having fun couples that allow me to get creative, and are totally into it, are awesome. {I will be using the word awesome a lot in this post.}

Besides their obvious love of all things graphic novel-y, is their love for John and Yoko. Scott proposed to Reiko in Central Park's Strawberry Fields after a visit to the Dakota. And Scott was clever enough to ask a stranger to take their photo right before dropping to one knee and popping the question. Awesome! We did a little nod to Yoko during the rest of our session together.

I'm looking forward to their October wedding at the Inn of the Seventh Ray, one of my most favorite places to be. It's... well... awesome...

From the minute I met this couple, I was hoping they would retain me to shoot their wedding. April and Eric have the sweetest, easiest going personalities and I fell in love with, not just them, but April's parents too! Although I didn't get to met Eric's parents until the wedding, the entire family is so warm, funny and loving. I'm almost sad this event is over because I'm not ready to not be chatting with them anymore! lol I hate having to "break up" with my couples after I deliver their final prints and albums. Does that sound funny? I guess that's how much I love my clients. Thank goodness for maternity and new born sessions... no pressure guys!

April and Eric got married last week at the beautiful Calamigos Ranch in Malibu. It was a beautiful, outdoor ceremony with wisps of fog rolling through. They gave me the time before-hand for some first-look and bridal party portraits. This always gives me time to create some great images in great light.

April's mom and sis-in-law helped her get ready...

And I love the first look with her dad... amazing moments...

It was so sweet the way April kept looking toward her parents...

Some of my favorite parent-dance pix...
