I first met Brittany a few years back when my daughter started playing softball. She is also going to high school with my son and playing softball for the school. Brittany always has a warm smile and big hug for me - Just a sweetheart!
It turns out Brittany has recently gotten very ill and three weeks in, she is still in ICU but showing improvements and getting stronger. It also turns out that her parents do not have health insurance. After all the debates on health care going on in this country, here is a first-hand account of a hard-working family struggling to get their daughter the care she needs.
This is where you and I come in. I'm hoping to help rally the local community to make a difference for Brittany's family by coming out for a PHOTO FUNDRAISER. 100% of the proceeds will go toward Brittany's medical expenses.
Please join me by booking a ten-minute mini-photo session*. For $50 you will get a beautiful portrait and two retouched digital files. This might be a perfect time to get your holiday portrait taken; the headshot you've been meaning to get; or even a portrait of your new puppy! The studio will not have a deal THIS good for a long time!
When: Sunday, August 29
9am - 12pm
Where: Shadow Ranch Park in West Hills
I will be booking sessions every 15 minutes, so it is important that you call to book your time. If all the slots fill up, I will happily extend the time to help Brittany as much as possible.
Please call now, operators are standing by! (Okay, I couldn't resist that one!) Really though, come out with your family and make a difference.
*Please note that this is for one set-up and one look only.
A little artsy photo from the field...

Rebecca and her family wanted something a little less traditional for her dancer portraits. I guess the boring studio-with-flat-lighting-against-solid-color-backdrop didn't appeal to them. Lucky me. Thank you for getting up early with me to capture some beautiful, soft, early morning portraits and some cool, hip, funky ones too. It was hard to pick just a few to post but I think I narrowed it down to ten or so.

Michelle Kaufman Says:
I love these! I recognized Rebecca right away. Love seeing friends I know. These shots are all extraordinary! Every one of them. Great work. Rebecky you look gorgeous.

My son used to be David's play leader when he was in kindergarten and now here he is getting ready for his Bar Mitzvah. I don't know how time flies so fast. I'm looking forward to being a part of this special day for the Phillips and seeing David read from the Torah but for now here are some portraits we did last week of him and his siblings. (Don't bother trying to adjust your screen... those really are the color of his eyes!)

Check out the slideshow for more of our session:

I thought I'd do another quick post of some headshots I did in the last month or so. Whether for an acting gig, business website, real estate promo or maybe even a social networking site, I always meet some great people in my community when I do these.

Okay, sorry everyone else but Justin Grafman is my favorite. What a doll! We shot the day after my birthday and he brought me a gift! With his own money! What a giving spirit this kid has! Justin needed to update his headshot. You might recognize him from the movie "All About Steve", "Scrubs" or some other shows...

From Rocket Science Talent Agency, two more extraordinary visual effects artists... Michael Owen...

...and John Berton...

College grad photo of Monica for her announcements and resume...

And my favorite.. the 'just because' portrait.

Well, that probably got your attention! I'm crazy busy with weddings right now but I wanted to do a quick post on this family portrait I did last week.

We headed out to a fallen tree this family had seen on a hike. (I love when my clients take me on adventures.) I've ridden these trails many times and it's so beautiful here but this time of year it abounds with rattlesnakes. And apparently there was something in the news about how there are more rattlers out this year then in previous years. Yea, great, so, I'm convinced that if it wasn't for their huge dog Dino we would have been bit. I have never heard so many rattles going off at the same time. I tried to play it cool but I'm sure the fact that I kept looking at the sound coming from only two feet away from me gave away my paranoia!
In the end, we got some great shots and made it out safely. (I thought for sure you'd all see, "Photographer and family attacked by swarm of rattler's - news at 11!" on your T.V.'s that night.) I included the cutest pic of Dino as well for you animal lovers.
